Description
Meet at the Powell Visitor Center before beginning this 6-stop tour at the Homesteader Museum for an introduction to the Bureau of Reclamation Shoshone Irrigation Project. This project transformed the high desert into 100,000 acres of productive farmland. The next stops will include local dams and their role in the water system.
Did you know Powell grows 80-90% of the barley for the craft brew industry using flood irrigation? Briess Malt will explain how they achieve the many flavors present in beer from malting the barley. Your next stop is to a local beef producer. Conclude your time at WYOld West Brewery for a beer-tasting with our local brewmaster with the option to purchase lunch.
