The Cody Theatre Company presents: "Marry Me A Little, A Sondheim Musical Revue"
A charming and bittersweet musical revue that features songs by Stephen Sondheim, the undisputed master of the contemporary Broadway musical. Two urban singles share a Saturday night of sweet fantasies and deep yearning while never leaving the confines of their solitary apartments. Together, they breathe new theatrical life and meaning into a collection of trunk songs that were culled from the final productions of Anyone Can Whistle, Follies, Company, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and A Little Night Music.
Two single strangers, left alone in their studio apartments on a Saturday night, pass their time with sweetly secret, unshared fantasies, never knowing that they're just a floor away from each other and the end of their lonely dreams.
A must for Sondheim aficionados, this easily produced one-act musical is also perfect as a benefit, curtain warmer or second-stage production, as it can be played on virtually any existing set... or no set at all. It's a smart, funny, sophisticated and moving evening, and a fascinating look at "the songs that got away."
In Marry Me a Little, two lonely urban dwellers, living just a floor apart, explore the intricacies of their life desires and dreams. With a collection of songs by Stephen Sondheim, this musical revue offers an intimate glimpse into their inner worlds as they navigate the complexities of love, vulnerability, and the search for companionship. Marry Me a Little captures the universal yearning for connection and the beauty found in ordinary moments.
