Film Screening: Woman in Gold

Free public screening of the film “Woman in Gold” starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds. The film is based on the true story of Maria Altmann, an elderly Jewish refugee living in Los Angeles, who, together with her young lawyer, fought the government of Austria for almost a decade to reclaim Gustav Klimt’s iconic painting of her aunt, which was stolen from her relatives by the Nazis in Vienna just prior to WWII. Post-film discussion will be led by Rabbi Moshe Halfon of Cheyenne and Warren Murphy, author of “On Sacred Ground: A Religious and Spiritual History of Wyoming.” Rabbi Moshe has a personal tie to Maria Altmann, the film’s main character.
This event was made possible, in part, with support from Big Horn Cinemas; Friends of the Cody Library; and the Park County Library Foundation.
