Buffalo film clips and screening
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West is pleased to host Wyoming PBS for a special screening event on October 24. See clips of the Ken Burns film The American Buffalo, and the full documentary Homecoming, followed by a Q & A and an hors d’oeuvre reception.
The American Buffalo, a four-hour, two-part documentary that premieres October 16 on PBS, takes viewers on a journey through more than 10,000 years of North American history and landscapes, tracing the buffalo’s evolution, significance to the Great Plains, near demise, and relationship to Indigenous Peoples. See a 27-minute clip reel from the film at this event.
Following the clip reel, watch the 22-minute documentary Homecoming, which chronicles the rebuilding of the enduring relationship of Native American communities to the buffalo. It follows Jason Baldes as he leads historic transfers of bison to Tribal lands. Baldes is our special guest, and joins us for a Q & A with Wyoming PBS’s Chief Executive Officer Joanna Kail following the film.
The evening ends with a reception of light hors d’oeuvres.
